Forest

Alone in a forest
Trying to permeate,
But this trying is what
Keeps me separate.

When I see blood
Sinking into soil,
Twisted fingers
Becoming roots,

Rivers flowing
Through womb,
And throat and eyes,
My toes curl

Into what I am ~
What kept me apart
Dissolves to nothing.
And all that’s left

Is the forest.

I am the forest.
